First Ever Student Run Teach Meet held by the Fulford Digital Leaders!

Hi everyone,

We are the 8 Fulford School Digital Leaders and are proud to announce that we are holding the first ever student run Teach Meet on the 28th June 2012 at Fulford School in York.

We took on this challenge back around January and since then have tried to drum up support for the event, including trying to get sponsors to help us make the event a success.

We have managed to come a long way in the last 3 months picking up new skills such as negotiating with people, looking into business ideas and putting them into practise, meeting new people etc) and we feel that we can take these skills with us for use in later life.

The Teach Meet is looming on the horizon and we are getting more excited by the minute! We want as many people as possible to attend the event (Teachers and Students) and so if you want to come then please do not hesitate to contact us by filling in the contacts page on our website and we will add you to the list of people coming which can also be found on the link below:

They will be on hand to talk to you about what they do (you will be able to find them at there stalls). There will also be refreshments aswell!

So please save the date and make your way to York on the 28th June 2012. You will really enjoy it! and we also hope that what we are doing inspire’s more student run Teach Meets and more students to become Digital Leaders!

It is inspirational what you guys are doing and I know that it will motivate many others. I am hoping that the primary digital leaders in Norfolk will hold a kidsmeet at some point, but will be following your teachmeet with interest to see if we can do the same one day. Keep up the good work @Fulford DLs – fantastic stuff!

This is so impressive – good luck with your teachmeet. You sound so confident and I have no doubt that it will be a huge success. Unfortunately I live too far away to attend – will you be recording it so that I can view it online?
I am hoping to start using digital leaders at my infant school – do you have any advice on how to start?

    Hello Fulford Digital Leaders.

I’m delighted that you have chosen to stage such an impressive event and I will most certainly make time to attend. I am TRYING to find a way to be able to bring my primary school Digital Leaders as well, but this may prove to be a bit tricky. Either way, I’ll be there and I’m very much looking forward to it.

    Hi All,

In reply to @traceyab1: Great to here about you hoping setting up your DLs at your school! My personal advice is to be careful with the selection process – you need students who are willing to work to get results at our school and might be quite hard with younger students. Teachers will probably be the best people to ask. Also, we’ve had a lot of interest from other students (who aren’t DLs). I’m unsure but this might convert to jealousy with other students in younger school.
From there, it’s pretty much depenent on what your pupils are like and what they’re willing to do. Love to hear when you’ve got your scheme running!

About the live recording/ streaming: we’re looking into it as there’s been a lot of interest in the idea although as a free event, we also have to consider our budget, which is controlled by our sponsors.

Great that your all very interested! Please feel free to share this article!
    Regards,
    Ethan
